My Name is JesSay! I developed a curiosity for yoga while I was in my early 20’s as a way to find more peace of mind. However, it wasn’t until I answered a Craigslist ad looking for a roommate that I discovered the woman who would actually introduce me to the yogic lifestyle. (I would later call her my fairy Godmother.) She taught me how to channel my breath, feel into my body and move with intention. She influenced me to dive deeper into yoga, studying classic yogic texts, meditating and even exploring life at a living yoga community.
I became a certified yoga teacher in 2015 and since then I have taught in an array of settings including a yoga studio, gym and even an animal rescue farm! I have also worked with diverse populations from children to the elderly. I also work professionally as a massage therapist where I have the privilege to help folks heal their bodies of pain, injury and stress. I combine my love of yoga with the science of therapeutic touch to help my clients take charge of their own health and wellness. I love witnessing the changes they go through as their lives improve.
I'm a bit of a clown. I like to be silly and play as much as possible. I always feel my best when I move my body cheerfully and I love to share that feeling with others. Yoga can help us to be more loose and buoyant which brings a more playful possibility to our lives. Of course, moving our bodies will cheer us up naturally so we will feel good every time! I want to teach others how to tap into the practices of yoga to help them be more cheerful, and fluid in their bodies and minds. Since cancer requires multiple layers of healing, yoga can help folks heal holistically and live a full and healthy life through treatment and beyond. With that said, my ultimate goal is spiritual liberation where I am free, dancing with all of life without attachment. I look forward to playing along with you!
When I heard about the opportunity to serve the cancer community I immediately took interest. I have been blown away by the passion that the Clara Phipps Foundation pours into its mission of bringing yoga to those suffering through cancer. A cancer diagnosis is a tough reality to live with and it puts enormous stress on the lives it touches. Yoga is a great tool to help deal with that stress and to heal the body and mind in the process.
Yoga can bring the benefits of vibrant health and clarity of mind to those who practice. However, the true promise of yoga is the constant expansion of consciousness and experiencing new dimensions of life, discovered from one's own presence. This can come to anyone who practices with an earnest heart. Including you.
It is my hope and my joy to share the benefits of yoga that I have discovered so we can live together more peacefully in this beautiful Universe. I look forward to passing my knowledge and experience to you, so you can discover all that yoga has to offer.
